Sometimes an Ounce of Prevention is Measured in What? Cups.

While studying Unani Medicine at the Aligarh Muslim University in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India, we were shown their vast pharmacopeia as well as live demonstrations of some treatment methods, including the traditional Chinese practice of dry, vacuum cupping.  This woman, seen above, sat quietly and patiently, as if her mind was somewhere else, very far from the noise and excitement that filled the room.  Human suffering seems to take countless forms and pays no heed to geography, but it’s reassuring to know that the various forms of medicines available around the world are about as ubiquitous as the afflictions they aim to alleviate.
